Qurbani Ruling by Madhab
Hanafi
Qurbani is Wajib (Obligatory) on every Muslim who possesses wealth equal to or above the Nisab amount on the day of Eid ul Adha (10th Dhul Hijjah). It is mandatory and skipping it without valid excuse is sinful.
Must be performed on 10th, 11th, or 12th Dhul Hijjah.
Shafi'i
Qurbani is Sunnah Mu'akkadah (Emphasized) for every Muslim who is above the Nisab threshold. While not obligatory like in Hanafi school, it is strongly recommended and abandoning it is considered blameworthy.
Can be done on 10th, 11th, or 12th Dhul Hijjah.
Maliki
Qurbani is Sunnah Mu'akkadah for the person who is above Nisab. It is considered an established Sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Strongly encouraged for all eligible Muslims.
The sacrifice should be done after Eid prayer.
Hanbali
Qurbani is Wajib (Obligatory) according to the most correct opinion in the Hanbali madhab, similar to the Hanafi position. It is mandatory on every Muslim whose wealth reaches the Nisab threshold.
Sacrifice must be done by the 12th Dhul Hijjah.
